A New Computationally Efficient Bit-loading Algorithm for the Margin Maximization Problem of DMT Systems

Abstract: In this work, we present a new computationally efficient method for calculating the optimum bit-loading distribution of the margin maximization problem in multicarrier applications. The method exploits the differences between the subchannel gain-to-noise ratio (CNR) levels measured during channel training, in order to determine an initial bit allocation within the system constraints and then uses a multiple bits loading procedure that converges fast to the target-rate.
